Techniclean S-RP
Soluble oil based emulsion cleaner
Description
Castrol Techniclean S-RP is a mildly alkaline emulsion cleaner based on a low viscosity mineral oil, containing film forming additives and coupling agents. The product is supplied as a concentrate for dilution with water prior to use.
Application
Techniclean S-RP is specifically designed to combine the benefits of cleaning and excellent interoperational corrosion protection, suitable for use in a wide range of industrial spray and flood wash machines. Techniclean S-RP is specifically recommended for the cleaning of ferrous metals. After evaporation of the water phase it leaves an ultra-thin oily film on the metal surface offering excellent short-term corrosion protection. Techniclean S-RP removes soluble and light neat cutting oils, lubrication oils, swarf and general dirt.
Conditions of Use
Optimum conditions of use are depending on the detailed application requirements and the amount and nature of the soil being removed.

- If required protective films of Techniclean S-RP VW can be removed by using an alkaline process cleaner, also available from Castrol
User Advice
Make up an emulsion by adding the Techniclean S-RP to agitated water (preferably heated).
Being a semi-stable emulsion it is beneficial to keep the bath in constant movement, i.e. by a circulation pump, stirrer or continuous component throughput.
Check concentration, pH and bath level regularly, especially if used hot.
To reduce the risk of stability and corrosion issues caused by increasing contamination of water hardness and corrosive salts (e.g. chloride) it is recommended to fill up evaporation losses with deionised water.
The protective film must be completely dried before packaging.
Additional Information
The claims on film thickness and coverage are average values. These are valid for smooth surfaces with good drain-off characteristics and simple geometries without holes or recesses.
The full corrosion protection will be provided when the water is completely evaporated. Dilutions of Techniclean S-RP may be heated to facilitate drying.
(*) “Indoor storage” describes the storage of ferrous components in closed store-rooms having a relative humidity of 60%. Increased protection times could be achieved by treating finished surfaces or storing the parts in a sealed pack.
Influence of temperature may cause some cloudiness, which is reversible and doesn’t have an impact on product quality.
Storage
To avoid product deterioration always keep the container/drum tightly sealed. Store the product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Prevent exposure to frost and avoid water ingress. For optimum product stability, it is preferable to store the product indoors between 5°C and 45 °C / 41°F and 113°F.
